The story somehow involves a kidnapping case and Chan must use his wits to save the lives at stake before time runs out.

Jackie Chan is NOT dead!

Once again Jackie is the victim of a round of erroneous reports of his death. He posted this picture of himself holding a newspaper dated Friday 21June on Weibo to confirm he is alive and well.  Please check your facts with a reliable news when you hear these stories. Jackie is right, if something were to happen to happen to him it would be reported in all the major newspapers, not just unconfirmed rumours.

Two Jackie Chan projects unveiled

Jackie Chan’s successful collaboration with Chinese studio Huayi Brothers will continue later this year with the production of two more films — one set in New York and the other in the vast deserts of rural China. 

Hot on the heels of the success of CZ12, the action comedy which generated $138 million at the mainland Chinese box office earlier this year, Chan will be producing and starring in the tentatively-titled Manhattan, a film which sees the Hong Kong star playing “a dark hero” who “converses with love and hate”, according to a statement released at a press conference in Shanghai. Meanwhile, Wolf Flag (a tentative Chinese title for the second project) will see Chan star in a “mournful ode concealed in the stricken desert”. Both films are slated for release in 2014.

Part of a slate of upcoming projects that Huayi Brothers dubbed The H Files, the two Jackie Chan films are joined by the previously-announced David Ayer’s Fury, the Brad Pitt-starrer co-produced by the studio and QED.

Jackie Chan might be known for Chinese kung fu classics and Hollywood action comedies, but what he's really itching for is a bit of serious drama.

Chan, who started out as a child performer, says despite his more than 200 movie appearances, he's yearning to stretch out as an actor — and perhaps even make a musical.

"I want to show the audience I not only can fight, do stunts, also I'm a pretty good actor," the Chinese action icon and filmmaker told CBC News on Thursday.

"I can do Rush Hour. I can do Legend of Drunken Master. I can do Karate Kid. Then I come back to do [Chinese Zodiac]. Then I go back and maybe I do Sound of Music."

The star of Hollywood hits Rush Hour, Shanghai Noon and the forthcoming Chinese Zodiac is on a brief visit to Toronto to introduce screenings of his Chinese-language classics Police Story and Drunken Master, featured on the lineup of TIFF's Century of Chinese Cinema summer program.

In the video above, Chan talks to CBC's Jessica Wong about honouring cinema of the past, advice for filmmakers eager to access the Chinese market, which actors he admires and potentially sharing the screen with Sly Stallone.

Jackie Chan Writing a Musical Based on His Life

 The "Rush Hour" star reveals plans that he is currently writing a stage adaptation of his best-selling memoir "I Am Jackie Chan."

Jackie Chan is ready to express himself through the art of song and dance.

The Hong Kong-born action-movie icon has revealed that he is penning a script for a musical adaptation of his 1998 memoir I Am Jackie Chan: My Life in Action.

 "We are looking for a director for the musical right now," he told reporters at a press conference today at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York. "It's all very exciting."

The press conference was part of Chan’s two-day swing through New York, which also included a Lincoln Center reception celebrating Hong Kong Cinema on June 10, at which Chan was a guest of honor. Later that night, the Rush Hour star also received a lifetime achievement award at the New York Asian Film Festival, which screened his new film Chinese Zodiac.

At the press conference, Chan said the musical will be told through his voice as narrator of his life, focusing on his early youth, his time spent performing acrobatics with the children's performance group the Seven Little Fortunes and his quest to step out from behind the shadow of the iconic Bruce Lee.

In the past, Chan has talked about how his love for musicals like The Sound of Music was fostered at a young age.

The WME-repped star also said that he is working on the follow-up to his 1998 autobiography, which is tentatively titled I Am Still Jackie Chan.

 

Jackie Chan to visit India as a part of China Film Festival

New Delhi: Action superstar Jackie Chan, best known for 'Rush Hour' series, 'The Myth' and 'The Karate Kid', is all set to visit India this month as part of the China Film Festival to be held in the capital.

Indo China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC), State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and People's Republic of China are jointly organizing the China Film Festival, which will be held from June 18-23.

"Jackie Chan is visiting Delhi in conjunction with the China Film Festival. 'Chinese Zodiac', his latest film, also directed by him will be the opening film of the six-day festival. He is here as a part of a 20 member delegation visiting India," said Irfan Alam, Member Secretary, ICEC.

Chan will be a leading member of the delegation visiting India along with actors and those involved in creating these moving images from the Chinese film fraternity.

The film festival will offer variety of films from alternative, contemporary, action, adventure, new age cinema and period dramas.

The 59-year-old had previously visited the country in 2008 to participate in Kamal Hassan starrer 'Dasavatharam's' music release function.Chan worked with Indian actress Malika Sherawat in 'The Myth'.
